Here are 3 ways that you can solve this problem.

Braces

Garage door braces are probably the least expensive option. Each brace only costs around $160, but you’ll only get minimal protection.

You need one brace per number of cars that your garage is capable of holding. In other words, if you have a two-car garage, you need two braces. If you have a three-car garage, you’ll need 3.

Hurricane Panels

Hurricane panels are another option for protecting your garage. These panels are attached to the garage door itself. They come in either metal or aluminum.

The panels can range from $300 to $700, depending on the materials you use and the size of your garage. You may also need a building permit in order to use them.

Impact-Resistant Doors

Though buying a special garage door is the most expensive option that you can pursue, it is also the option that offers you and your home the most protection. These doors can take some of the toughest winds that a hurricane can dish out.

Expect to pay $1200 to $2000 for an impact-resistant garage door. It will be worth it, however, when the hurricanes come.
