Pinellas County Extension Presents Seminar
It’s always cool to see the kinds of interesting educational events that the Pinellas County Extension routinely hosts here in the Tampa Bay metro area.
Are you interested in learning more about marine science? On November 7th you’ll have a great chance to do just that. Pinellas County Extension is hosting a seminar called, “Sea Level Rise: What We Know, What We Don’t Know, and What We Need to Know.”
The free event features a presentation by Dr. Don P. Chambers, Associate Professor at the College of Marine Science, University of South Florida. Dr. Chambers is an internationally recognized expert in his field.
Pinellas County Extension describes the event this way:
We will discuss the various tools that have been used to observe sea level rise since the early 1700s and present a summary of what we know about sea level rise, especially new insight gleaned from nearby global satellite and in situ measurements over the last two decades. We will discuss the relationship of sea level rise to climate change and the melting of the Greenland and Antarctic Ice Sheets, and discuss what we still need to understand in order to make more accurate predictions for future sea level rise.
The event starts at 6:30 PM. Light refreshments will be served. It will be held at the Weedon Island Cultural and Natural History Center at 1800 Weedon Drive NE, St. Petersburg, FL, 33702.
You will need to register online if you’d like to go to this event. There are sure to be some fascinating discussions, so if you’re interested you won’t want to miss it!
